Join the Weston Historical Society for the in person lecture, “Deconstructing Fashion in the 1920’s” with guest presenters Michael Mombello and Leslie Weiss on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 7:00pm at 104 Weston Road Weston, CT. The Twenties revolutionized apparel and appearance across the globe for men and women. Michael Mombello and Leslie Weiss will give an overview of how historic events shaped fashion and evolved, after centuries of stuffy, rigid dressing yielded to give way to more ease and comfort.This is an in person lecture with limited seating. Parking and entrance is accessed from High Acre Road. Lecture takes place in red building adjacent to parking lot. Follow lit path to white double doors on red building.This lecture is in connection with the history center’s 1920s exhibit, “Weston Slept While the Nation Roared: Life in the Twenties.” The exhibit is open 1:00pm – 4:00pm every Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday through December 19th, and open on select Saturdays. After his tenure at Macy's, Ralph Lauren, J. Crew and Tommy Hilfiger, he is thrilled to be on the team at KMS Partners Compass; his appreciation for New England history and architecture allows him to see the possibilities inherent in antique homes, and lead him to frequent collaborations with the Weston Historical Society and Westport Museum for History and Culture. Leslie Weiss uses her anthropology training to explore the diverse aspects of cultural changes and how zeitgeist merged with people, objects and events. In this presentation, she and Michael Mombello illustrate how clothing reflected the cultural patterns of an era. Leslie is a Weston Historical Society Trustee and co-curator of the Society’s exhibit, “ Weston Slept While the Nation Roared: Life in the Twenties.”
