Experienced Lead Female Vocalist, Genuine variety band, 100% audience focused, many genres,40s- Top 40. Need accomplished vocalist, keyboard player a PLUS! Top notch, seasoned, experienced musicians, both academic and self-taught, w/decades of experience. As a singer you will need to have strong lead and BU capabilities, “hear” and sing harmonies, sing in tune, understand vocal blending, & rhythm, contribute if you play an instrument and play hand percussion( I’ll teach you). Singers need to be aware that some popular songs have “musical hooks” that our paying audience expects to hear, and - IF you are willing to join and commit to our group, giving us top priority for gigs, - IF you have a good musical and relationship history, like music and performing, - IF you want to be in a high quality group for a long time, - IF you appreciate the absence of "artistic arrogance", are available for and willing to attend practice, want to play for audiences who want to dance and enjoy themselves, and like all genres……….we would very much like to talk with you. We need a good fit with the group, trustworthy, diligent, reliable, good audience interaction, flexibility and "nice-ness". We are a NO-DRAMA group, safe, professional and serious. Practice every Thurs Walker, La. 6-10. We are a TRUE variety band music from 1940s - Top 40 today. Repertoire is most genres, pop, rock, swamp, cajun, country, R&B, latin, big band and, old standards...and open to originals, up-tempo, medium, slow. No techno, rap, metal. We have a very specific method of selecting repertoire, and your suggestions will need to fit our guidelines, although we are open to ANY ideas. We will perform as entertainers, helping our audiences have déjà vu....re-live the good times in their lives, good dance music, and our Goal is to play for audience entertainment, get paid, and get hired again. Not seeking a “sit in” or “HIRE” for pay. We want a GROUP member, willing to practice weekly, focus on our group, learn music BEFORE the practice and gigs, contribute in any way you are able, musically, gig contacts, equipment, audience interaction, style of the group, entertaining…. Pay comes from gigs, and our goal is to become a band of top choice in 3 LOCAL arenas: Wedding ceremonies and receptions, Corporate / Private events, Louisiana Fairs and Festivals. We aren’t a “touring” group.... maybe from Texas to Miss along the I-10 corridor but no “touring.” Our local Baton Rouge members are not full time playing prof, but we want a full time prof sound. We have a state of the art QSC PA system and Digital Mixer, cables, mic stands. You need to furnish your own mic and any instrumental gear. Band Experience. Talent. Mature minded. Band Repertoire flexibility. Availability. NO DRAMA. Currently, we have only a few rules(might be more in the future): Rule 1: Anyone can submit music for consideration, your “signature” songs, favorites, those that in your experience have had top audience reactions, those you know are high in You tube hits or on Billboard charts…..BUT, as the leader, I will choose which songs we learn in which order to keep drama low, and so we can we need to learn and practice in SETS, not random songs….to speed our preparation time and keep theband focused. 2. No drunks, drugs, smoking on stage, “professional-have-to-pay-the-rent singers”, bad manners, drama, singer-for-hire syndrome, questionable reliability, family, job, etc hang ups. 3. Learn your music before practice, show up, do your job as part of our performing group. 4. Everyone helps load in and load out. 5. We want any contacts you have for gigs, but ALL gigs are booked through me to avoid conflicts and to assure fee integrity. Contact: Tom Parsons txt
