Wakefield Rotary Hosts Purple Pinkey Event

The Wakefield Rotary Club hosted it's Purple Pinkey event at the Fall In Love With Wakefield event last month. Club Secretary Suzanne Bowering explained, "Our Purple Pinkey event is designed to raise awareness of Rotary's efforts world-wide to eradicate polio." She continued, "In countries that experience technology challenges and in some rural areas, children have their pinkey fingers dyed purple to indicate they received a polio vaccine on their immunization day." Rotary has been a global leader in the eradication of polio worldwide since 1985. Today, 99.9% of the world is polio-free. To learn more, visit endpolio.org.
