SEATTLE — Seattle students are looking at a four-day weekend after the school district announced it would not have enough staffing available to keep classrooms running on the Friday after Veterans Day. "As part of our effort to ensure the highest quality environment for student learning, all SPS schools will be closed Friday, November 12," Seattle Public Schools wrote Tuesday. "There will be no in-person or remote instruction on this day. We are aware of a larger than normal number of SPS staff taking leave on Friday, and do not believe we have adequate personnel to open schools." In a letter to families, the district apologized for any challenges the unplanned off day might create and said the missed day of learning would be added to the end of the school year.
