Food For Neighbors Holds Red Bag Event

On Saturday, November 6th, Food For Neighbors held its second major food collection and sorting event of this school year. Community members gathered and sorted food in five Northern Virginia areas: Herndon, Springfield, Falls Church, Fort Hunt, and Sterling. Thanks to over 1,100 generous community members, the nonprofit collected over 17,000 pounds of food. The Sterling Area alone collected 1,856 pounds! This food will help to provide food security to vulnerable students in 25 schools in Fairfax County and Loudoun County. Schools served in Loudoun County include: Sterling Middle School,Seneca Ridge Middle School,River Bend Middle School,Park View High School,Potomac Falls High School, andStone Bridge High School. As the need continues to be great, Food For Neighbors welcomes additional Northern Virginia middle and high schools, volunteers, and organizations to participate in the program.
