Bridgeport Man Sentenced In Fentanyl Drug-Dealing Case: Feds

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A 29-year-old Bridgeport man was sentenced Monday to 60 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release, for distributing fentanyl, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Leonard C. Boyle. Anthony Figueroa-Gonzalez was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford, who ordered him to report to prison on Dec. 29. Figueroa-Gonzalez is currently free on bond of $100,000. According to court documents and statements, in August 2019, Figueroa-Gonzalez had been identified "as a large-scale distributor of fentanyl" by the Drug Enforcement Administration's Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force. As a result, authorities made two undercover drug buys from him in Bridgeport that fall, with each purchase being approximately 50 grams of fentanyl. Figueroa-Gonzalez was arrested on a federal criminal complaint on May 6, 2020, and in July 2021, he "pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, 40 grams or more of fentanyl." The DEA's Bridgeport-based task force includes personnel from the DEA Bridgeport Resident Office, the Connecticut State Police, and the Bridgeport, Norwalk, Stamford, Stratford, Milford and Danbury police departments. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Karen L. Peck.
