Press release from City of Fort Worth: November 09, 2021 Mayor Mattie Parker has announced a new structure and membership for City Council Committees to cover a range of pressing city issues, including transportation, innovation, neighborhood quality, and legislative affairs. Council Committees give City Councilmembers the opportunity to give additional attention to key issues, brainstorm solutions to recommend to the City Council, and engage with residents, stakeholders, and experts on each committee's topics of interest. "Issues like mobility, neighborhood quality, and supporting entrepreneurship and innovation are vitally important to the future of Fort Worth, and our City Council must spend more time focusing on them," said Mayor Parker, "We structured these committees so that we can utilize the strengths and expertise of individual Councilmembers and bring forth exceptional new ideas and plans that will be impactful in these all-important areas." Starting in December, Council Committees will meet monthly and each group will have a strategic focus area of oversight. Meets second Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. This committee will focus on transportation, water, infrastructure, and connectivity. Chair, Mayor Pro Tem Gyna Bivens  Vice-Chair, District 9 City Councilmember Elizabeth Beck  Member, District 7 City Councilmember Leonard Firestone   Member, District 4 City Councilmember Cary Moon  Meets second Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. This committee will focus on neighborhood services, parks, libraries, public health, environment, city partnerships in education. Chair, District 6 City Councilmember Jared Williams   Vice-Chair, District 8 City Councilmember Chris Nettles   Member, District 9 City Councilmember Elizabeth Beck  Member, District 2 City Councilmember Carlos Flores   Meets second Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m. This committee will focus on entrepreneurship, small business growth, Covid-19 recovery, Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) expansion. Chair, District 7 City Councilmember Leonard Firestone  Vice-Chair, District 3 City Councilmember Michael Crain   Member, District 2 City Councilmember Carlos Flores  Member, District 8 City Councilmember Chris Nettles   Meets first Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. This committee will provide oversight responsibilities for financial matters and internal and external audits. Chair, District 4 City Councilmember Cary Moon  Vice-Chair, District 7 City Councilmember Leonard Firestone   Member, Mayor Pro Tem Gyna Bivens  Member, District 6 City Councilmember Jared Williams   Meets third Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m.   This committee will provide oversight responsibilities for the federal and state legislative issues, board and commission appointments and intergovernmental relations.
