AUSTIN, TX — Austin police are investigating two different shootings on South Congress Avenue that killed one person and injured two others Monday night.
The first call came in around 8:43 p.m. in the 7200 block of South Congress Avenue after police say they received several 911 calls from people about hearing gunshots at the SoCo Apartments.
Authorities said the 911 callers saw a man staggering who appeared to be hurt. The first police officer arrived on scene two minutes after the call and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was taken to a local hospital, but later died from his injuries. Officials told reporters Monday evening that no arrests have been made at this time. The fatal shooting marks the 82nd homicide in Austin in 2021.
About a mile-and-a-half north of the first shooting, police say two others were shot near South Congress Avenue and Stassney Lane.
The two victims were taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive, officials said.
Police could not confirm if the two shooting incidents are possibly connected.
