WASHINGTON CROSSING, PA — The 11th annual Bucks County Marathon Weekend is returning to Bucks County this Saturday and Sunday. There are a total of three races overall spanning the weekend, with the first race beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Participants from 18 states will be embarking on the Delaware Canal towpath towards New Hope and back again. The Delaware Canal Half Marathon will take place in Washington Crossing Historic Park. This race is amongst the largest of the three races being held, heading north along the Delaware Canal towpath towards the southern end of New Hope and looping back to the finish in Washington Crossing. The Bucks County Marathon will begin on Sunday at 9 a.m. in the same location as the half marathon. The marathon will run the same course as the half marathon, running double out-and-back. The Bucks County 5K will begin, again, at the same location as the other two races, at approximately 9:20 a.m. and will return to the finish line earlier than the marathon runners. Some participants will be running the half marathon on Saturday and then running either the full marathon or the 5K on the next day. Organizer runBUCKS calls this the "Bucks Challenge" and the "Baby Bucky Challenge." The Bucks County Marathon Weekend has never been affected by COVID-19, organizers said. The small service of the runBUCKS team and the small size of these races also allowed it to occur last year in 2020.
