CHICAGO — A new trivia game designed in partnership with Chicago Transit Tees and Jeppson's Malört aims to bring a bitter taste of Chicago knowledge to the card game world.
The game, appropriately named The Chicago Handshake after the Old Style and Malort shot combo, was launched Monday night at CH Distillery.
The goal of the game is to collect as many Chicago-themed tokens as you can by answering questions ranging from knowledge on local celebrities such as the Tamale Guy to naming local breweries or ingredients in a Chicago Style hot dog.
Daniel E. Bell/Transit TeesOnce a player has collected a token, they get the honor — or dishonor — of taking a shot of Malort followed by an Old Style chaser.
Malort is made locally by Jeppson's Malört, which was purchased by CH Distillery in 2018 to bring the beskbrännvin home to a Pilsen distillery. The bitter, wormwood-based spirit was sold as medicinal alcohol during prohibition and became a staple at many Swedish bars on Clark Street.
The card game pack is available for preorder on Transit Tee's website and is scheduled to ship to buyers on Nov. 15. Creators specified the game should only be played by the brave of heart and people 21-years-old and up.
