BURR RIDGE, IL — A Burr Ridge trustee on Monday asked the village to consider enacting regulations for Airbnbs and other short-term rentals, saying some have become bothersome for residents. At a Village Board meeting, Trustee Guy Franzese said some places are being rented for nights or weekends for parties. "They are a source of noise, drunkenness and trespassing of neighboring properties," Franzese said. "Surrounding neighbors have to suffer through this. Our ordinances don't allow for strict enforcement." Franzese said the village should not target the corporate executive who has a short-term rental for a month. Rather, the village should deal with rentals that involve loud parties and police calls, he said. Village Administrator Evan Walter said he has received complaints from residents about short-term rentals. "We can look at this with fresh eyes," he said. Mayor Gary Grasso said he, too, has received such calls. He said the board could direct the Plan Commission to draft regulations for short-term rentals. In neighboring Darien, an alderman has brought up at least twice an "out of control" Airbnb across the street from Hinsdale South High School.
