Description
Enjoy photographing local wildlife as we look for migratory birds that regularly stop over at Eldridge Park this time of year. This is a once a year opportunity to photograph migratory birds that are not normally seen in our area. I have spent the last several years documenting their arrival here in the early spring. These birds stop over here on their migration further north. Birds we hope to see: Migratory birds moving through the area: Horned Grebe, Common Loon, Bufflehead, Canvasback, Northern Shoveler, Ruddy Duck, Red-Necked Grebe, Red-Breasted Merganser Uncommon birds to our area: Double Crested Cormorant, Pied Billed Grebe, Hooded Merganser Common birds to our area: Ring Billed and Hearing Gulls, Mallards, Canada Geese, Common Merganser I don't know why these birds choose this spot to stop over during their migration but I am sure glad they do. Let's to our best to respect them and enjoy their presence. It is impossible to know for sure what birds will be awaiting us or arrive for us to photograph. If none of the more elusive birds are present we will work on honing our skills on the more common birds that will be present. There are no refunds due to the la k of migratory birds. This is part of the challenge of wildlife photography. You can never be sure what you will get. You study behavior and plan based off observation, but you make the best of what you are given and that is what makes photography special. I am planning to hold multiple workshops during the time frame these birds are typically presenting our area. If we are not fortunate enough to see them at the workshop you attend please feel free to register for another date and we will hope for better fortunes then. Such is the life of a wildlife photographer. My favorite wildlife photographer has written regularly about how he has been skunked when trying to capture a specific photograph and despite all his experience and knowledge he still comes away empty handed. Each days workshop is limited to 10 people so buy your tickets now so you don't miss out. Feel free to attend multiple workshops to increase your opportunities for the best photographic opportunities. Workshops are held rain or shine.
