UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — It's not the most welcoming of sights for kids each day.
An unending roof repair for PS 165 on West 109th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam has caused scaffolding to cover the building since 2011.
Frustrated parents of the Upper West Side school told the New York Post that the roof project has cost an estimated $17 million and attracts "vermin and drug users who use the scaffolding for cover after dark."
It is an elementary and middle school, meaning that all the current students have never seen the school without the scaffolding.

"Additional contractors were required for masonry and roof work that included the installation of new structural steel to the building. We understand the impact on the school and are working hard to complete this vital work by summer 2022."
