hello! Guitar player here, seeking like minded musicians to create "Jazz" band. Jazz is in quotes, because I don't want a typical jazz band. I want elements of that thing called "jazz." It is 2021 after all! I would like to develop a band situation that includes all the tasty ingredients; melodies, rhythms, harmonies, song structures, etc. and of course soloing. My background is: I've played guitar since the 90s. I've played all kinds of rock and jazz, etc. I like good melodies, and variety with rhythms. I am interested in songs, but I am not interested in (only playing) Real Book standards. I don't mind a few standards, to acquire the taste. However, I would rather use other songs that are fresh and exciting for the band members. I like solos and improv, but I definitely want to build a setlist of songs.
