Job Description Job Title: Building / Water Treatment Operator Boxford Public Schools Facilities Department Building / Water Treatment Operator Monday – Friday Hours – 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM Overtime as required On Call 24/7 Reports to and evaluated by: Director of Facilities and Building Principal The Boxford Public Schools seeks an experienced, energetic self starter to join its Facilities Department in the role of Building / Water Treatment Operator, (B/WTO). This position is a working supervisor position; Responsible for day to day facilities operations that includes housekeeping of the facility interior and exterior, Operation of an onsite Drinking Water Treatment System, HVAC operations, general building maintenance and supervision of afternoon/evening facilities staff. Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with excellent organizational skills. Perform and manage all phases of facilities maintenance to include: janitorial, maintenance of the building’s interior, exterior, grounds, light repairs and building systems as directed. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction, control and as directed. Minimum Qualifications – Experience, Building Operator: 5 Years minimum verifiable experience in janitorial maintenance in a supervisory role in an education, corporate or healthcare environment is preferred. Experience in painting, light carpentry and operation of applicable power equipment preferred. Building Operator Certificate (BOC) Level 1 or equivalent certification and or related degree desirable. Minimum Qualifications – Experience, Water Treatment Operator: Possession of a current Commonwealth of Massachusetts Drinking Water Grade 2T certification is highly desirable with a minimum of 3 years experiance or considerations to train the right candidate may be possible. Operate, maintain and repair water treatment machinery and equipment. Collect water samples and make routine laboratory tests at stages of treatment in accordance with standardized procedures, and adjust treatment chemicals as required. Take and record readings of instruments, make adjustments in equipment as indicated, and maintain operation logs. Check machinery and equipment for malfunctions conduct and schedule regular preventative maintenance, repairs, and overhaul machinery and equipment. Other responsibilities include maintaining the treatment plant and grounds in a clean, orderly condition. Performs other related duties as required. Additional Requirements: Ability to follow and execute oral and written instructions. Ability to understand and apply regulations, policies, procedures, specifications, standards and guidelines. Must have excellent organizational and writing skills. Computer skills in Word, Excel and experience in CMMS is preferred. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others with a customer service attitude to all. Ability to perform inventory management. Research, create and receive supply and equipment orders. Experience in the use and repair of janitorial tools, equipment and chemicals. Experience maintaining various floor systems, restrooms, dusting, glass, snow/ice removal, and event setups. Must have dependable all weather transportation. Ability to work on call 24/7 for scheduled, unscheduled and emergency events. Environment: Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time; ability to lift and carry heavy objects, (75lbs); ability to climb and work on ladders and scaffolds; physical stamina and endurance, may spend all shift standing; cold and hot environments; day-night, indoors – outdoors.
