Join Columbus Gives Back at MagLiteracy.Org to sort and pack magazines for local literacy programs! Columbus Gives Back is proud to launch a new partnership with MagLiteracy.Org and The Ohio Literacy Bank! Because literacy can help end poverty. With magazines for every reading age, interest, and language, magazines and comics are the most powerful literacy engines on the planet. And we are looking for volunteers like you to help sort donated magazines for local literacy programs here in central Ohio! Where: Atrium Corporation,188 Commerce Boulevard, Johnstown, OH, 43031. There is a map below, please meet us at Bay Door 9 on the left side of the building. When: Saturday, November 13th (10:00am - 1:00pm) Event Leaders: [email protected] COVID-19 Precautions: Columbus Gives Back is following all recommended social / hygiene protocols. Masks are no longer required for outdoor events but please bring one to the event in case our nonprofit partners require them. Masks and social distancing are still required for all indoor events. About MagLiteracy.Org: The seed for MagLiteracy.org was planted in 1994, while organizing community hunger relief efforts. Realizing that homes without food, a basic necessity, had very few reading materials – a major factor contributing to a cycle of illiteracy and poverty for children and families – we knew that magazines and comics were special and untapped for literacy. In fact, two-thirds of U.S. children in poverty live in homes with zero books. So, MagLiteracy.org set out to share the reading materials that we all love to feed children and families hungry to read. About Columbus Gives Back: We love Columbus, young professionals, and getting involved! Our mission is to connect young professionals across central Ohio and engage them in our communities through 35-40 social volunteer and philanthropic opportunities per month. #SocialTwist: We have begun re-introducing social twists, where we invite volunteers to hang out with us after an event to have fun doing something local! As of May 1st, outdoor/patio social twists will be coordinated at the discretion of event leaders and volunteers.
