Concert featuring Jennifer Sherrill (Soprano) and Lauma Akmene (Piano) performing pieces on the theme of Night, the moon, and fall. Jenifer Sherill (soprano) and Lauma Akmene (piano) invites to "Music Conversations" on Sunday November 14 at 2pm at Davis Lutheran Church, 317 E 8th St, Davis. Jennifer and Lauma will perform lullabies, art songs and spirituals in the theme of night, moon and fall. Jennifer is a musician, teacher and writer with a Bachelors and Masters in Vocal Performance. She has sung and taught in the Chicagoland area for the past 20 years, serving as cantor for St. Gregory the Great, directing the youth choir Saint Gregory Singers, and the adult Thousand Mile Choir. Jennifer also works in refugee communities to help support and implement music programs within the Moria, Kara Tepe and Pikpa camps on the island of Lesvos in Greece. While pursuing a PhD in Ethnomusicology at UC Davis, Jennifer enjoys researching the ways in which the power of music creates the soundscape of home.
