Description

Join us to celebrate the tremendous work being done to elevate the ability for our system to house our community’s veterans On November 10th, in recognition of Veterans Day, we will be hosting a large Veterans Day Housing Fair event at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library - 7th floor (1515 Young St, Dallas, TX 75201). This event helps us highlight the tremendous work being done and continues to elevate the ability for our system to house our community’s veterans. Please join us to celebrate our success with the Mayor of Dallas and members of the Dallas City Council, leaders of the Homeless Collaborative of Dallas and Collin Counties, representatives of the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness. The Housing Fair brings together service providers comprised of shelters, street outreach, and housing providers to match veterans in housing programs to available units in the community to continue our goal of effectively ending veterans’ homelessness in Dallas and Collin Counties. The morning will include a keynote address beginning at 8:00am followed by two working sessions for housing providers at 10:00am and 1:45pm. The event will practice COVID-19 protocols that include temperature checks, masking, and required on-site COVID testing taking place on the 1st floor for all attending the keynote between 7:00 – 8:00 am, staff and veterans attending the morning session at 8:30 am and the afternoon session from 1:00 – 1:45 pm. To maintain the health and safety of all, we are asking everyone to RSVP. Free Parking is available in the underground garage of the library on Wood Street. The Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance (MDHA) is a backbone organization that leads the development of an effective homeless rehousing system. In partnership with 90+ public, private, and nonprofit institutions, we make the experience of homelessness in Dallas and Collin Counties rare, brief, and non-recurring.
