Through this effort, the "Transplant Generation" can embrace the Hawaiian culture - the importance of Kalo, know the Story of Haloa, and relate to the relatives still residing in the Hawaiian Islands. This event brings together Hawaiians and Hawaiians at heart, and those who miss the islands and are familiar with taro/kalo and lau lau. The Taro Harvest also acquaints those who are growing up here on the mainland, but are not familiar with Hawaiian island roots, culture, and traditions.
