AlphaGraphics Commercial Printing Services is looking for an experienced Prepress Technician to join our team! The Prepress Technician is responsible for pre-flighting client files, troubleshooting and preparing print for final output. Responsibilities: • Use specialized prepress software to format and combine text, numerical data, photographs, charts, and other visual graphic elements to produce files ready for offset or digital printing production. • Work collaboratively with writers, editors, graphic designers, and others to prepare their files for the offset or digital printing production process. • Paginate finished publications using specialized printing imposition software. • Develop overall layout and design of newsletters, brochures, books, posters, and other documents. • Scan and prepare client photographs and illustrations for the offset printing process, including color correction, image retouching and silhouetting, and special filtering and textural effects. • Produce high-quality color proofs, and finished offset printing plates. • Troubleshoot and repair problematic files as needed. • Create posters using large format poster printers and mid-size digital printers. • Review client files for adherence to graphic standards and United States Postal Service mailing regulations. • Provide technical support for CSRs regarding new and traditional graphic arts techniques and procedures. • Install and maintain application software and computer operating systems. • Perform maintenance and minor repairs to department equipment. • Work with prepress supervisor to develop, implement, and maintain imaging and prepress workflow procedures. Requirements: • 2- or 4-year trade school acceptable; College/university degree preferred. • 5+ years’ experience in prepress; both hardware and software. Both macOS and/or Windows networked environments • Experience with Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, QuarkXPress, Word, Excel, and Publisher • Experience with Adobe Acrobat production plug-ins (Enfocus, and Quite) is a plus • Experience with personalized database printing (variable data printing) is a plus • Working knowledge of HTML, Java/JavaScript, and Web development a plus About AlphaGraphics Commercial Printing Services: We have been a prominent printer of choice for over 40 years in the Tucson community.
