Join us for our TENTH ANNUAL VOLUNTEER OYSTER ROAST on DECEMBER 2 at 6:00pm!! Masonboro.Org wants to celebrate YOU! Join us our TENTH ANNUAL VOLUNTEER OYSTER ROAST on DECEMBER 2 at 6:00pm!! We'll catch up and relive some of the stories from July 4, introduce the members of our board, celebrate Island Explorers, recognize our ILX volunteers and preview 2019. Plus, it'll be our opportunity to thank you personally for your commitment to Masonboro.Org.  If you volunteered for our July 4 clean-up or have been a part of ILX this fall, please come and bring a guest! We'll provide oysters and the fixin's. Bring your family or a friend, your favorite adult beverage and a side dish or dessert to share. Thank you for supporting masonboro.org.  Our mission is to protect public access, promote responsible use and preserve the traditions of Masonboro Island. We work to keep the traditions of Masonboro Island -- surfing, camping, fishing, boating, paddleboarding -- open to you, your kids and even your pets for years to come. Since 2009, hundreds of our grassroots, "red shirt" volunteers have removed and recycled tons of trash from Masonboro Island during the annual 4th of July Celebration. In 2013 we launched the Masonboro.org Island Explorer [ILX] program: an educational, science-based field trip to Masonboro Island for fifth-grade students in New Hanover County. Since 2017, ILX has been offered to all New Hanover County (NHCS) system students. Our success comes from the wide support we receive from our community. We are always looking for committee members and volunteers to assist with our programs. These programs include approximately 23 school trips to Masonboro Island throughout the fall and spring school year, our 4th of July effort, a spring benefit, and a fall oyster roast/cookout.
