Description

MAYNARD, MA — A 23-year-old Maynard woman was rescued Saturday afternoon after suffering a medical incident while hiking in the White Mountains, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game. The woman was hiking a nearly 9-mile loop and was near the summit of Little Haystack Mountain when she was immobilized by the medical incident. The woman and a hiking companion waited for about 90 minutes for the problem to subside before calling a rescue team. The woman tried to descend on her own, and made it part of the way down before a rescue team met her. The rescue party made it down the mountain by 7 p.m., according to fish and game. The woman's hiking companion took her to a medical facility for treatment. The rescue was one of three that occurred in the White Mountains over the weekend — including one involving five UMass students at Doublehead Mountain in Sandwich.
