We currently have a full time opening for a Grounds Supervisor at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Salinas, CA. This is the opportunity to be part of a Salinas Valley institution that has provided compassionate care to area residents for over 150 years. This supervisory position is responsible for the overall physical appearance and condition of the cemetery grounds, buildings and facilities as well as being responsible for and supervising all interments, entombments and inurnments. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: *Assures that all physical components of the memorialization process are in compliance with the client family wishes, Garden of Memories Cemetery policies, standards & procedures as well as applicable laws, rules and regulations. *Trains and supervises grounds crew. *Assures that the grounds crews’ personal appearance, actions, and demeanor are in accordance with cemetery requirements and present an appropriate image to client families. *Maintains a safe working environment by training the staff in proper techniques and use of safety equipment. *Assures that the site complies with OSHA and EPA regulations and that the employees under his/her supervision comply with appropriate regulations. *Maintains proper inventories of equipment, supplies and merchandise and safety equipment. *Assures that all equipment is cleaned and properly maintained. *Manage landscape contracts and outside contractors to ensure compliance with all company standards, rules and regulations. *Manage overall care of cemetery to include: mowing, trimming, road maintenance, tree & shrub care application of herbicides/pesticides mulch and pruning of greenery. *Maintain effective working relationships with cemetery Management, staff, employees, outside contractors, Funeral Homes, local and state officials and communicate effectively and efficiently with same. *Document and review employee performance and disciplinary issues and make recommendations to Garden of Memories Cemetery management for course of action if necessary. *Responsible for completing and submitting documents, work orders and other paperwork to appropriate department or manager. *Manages site preparation for interment, entombment & inurnment services. Requirements & Qualifications *Grounds supervision of larger teams (20+ crew members) experience is strongly preferred *Minimum 5 years cemetery grounds experience required (Please do not apply if you have never worked at a cemetery; you will not be considered) *Strong work ethic and ethical businesses practices are a must *Bilingual in Spanish is mandatory *Valid California Driver’s License with minimum 5 years clear of no violations, tickets or accidents. *High School diploma is required *Must be vaccinated for Covid 19 Benefits Options: *Health benefits (medical) *401K Retirement Savings Plan with potential company contribution *Vacation and sick time Salary: $55,000 – 65,000 per year Job Type: Full-time
