NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven police officer was arrested by Wallingford police on a "domestic violence warrant," according to authorities. Officer Marlena Ofiara turned herself in to Wallingford police Friday, according to New Haven police spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway. The New Haven police Internal Affairs Division were alerted to "potential off duty criminal actions committed by Ofiara" on Oct. 24, Shumway said. Shumway said facts of the alleged family violence incidents were presented by the Wallingford Police Department to the State's Attorney's office, and it was determined that probable cause existed to obtain a domestic violence warrant. She was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct. Ofiara, a New Haven cop since 2018, was placed on administrative leave by Interim Police Chief Renee Dominguez, Shumway said. "A parallel administrative investigation is currently being conducted into Ofiara's conduct by the New Haven Police Department Internal Affairs Division," Shumway said.
