Pedestrian hit on highway Fox 61 TV reports that a person was hit by a vehicle on I-95 in Waterford around 2 a.m. Monday which closed the highway for several hours. The highway has since reopened. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries. Read More at Fox 61. 92-year-old man killed in crash A 92-year-old man, Gerard Cinqmars, of Dayville, was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Ashford, according to Connecticut State Police. At 2:34 p.m. Sunday, state police responded to a three-car motor vehicle collision on Route 44 and Pumpkin Hill Road in Ashford. One vehicle was traveling west on Route 44 and Cinqmars' Subaru Forester was traveling east on Route 44 at Pumpkin Hill Road in Ashford. A third car was traveling west on Route 44 in Ashford, behind Cinqmars' car. One car slowed for a vehicle turning left onto Pumpkin Hill Road, while another car attempted to brake and swerved left to avoid colliding with westbound traffic, entering the eastbound lane, State Police said. One car struck Cinqmars' vehicle in a head-on collision, causing his vehicle to strike Vehicle 1, in a sideswipe collision, State Police. Cinqmars was transported by Ashford Ambulance to Windham Hospital, with serious injuries. Shortly thereafter, he was pronounced deceased. This case remains under investigation.
