By John Gibson, WNIN November 8, 2021 Funding has been secured for a skatepark along Evansville's riverfront. Sunset Skatepark will connect Micky's Kingdom Playground and the new Water and Sewer Pump Station. In a release, officials say more than $800,000 has been raised for the concrete skatepark with support from the skate and bike community, other community partners, and grants from CenterPoint Energy and the Welborn Foundation. Officials are finalizing the design of the skatepark, which will replace Evansville's current Lamasco Skatepark that opened in 2001. The new park is expected to open in the spring.
