Kicking off the night will be an opening set by Minnesota comic legend-in-the-making, Jason Schommer. Jen Kober is originally from Lake Charles, Louisiana, and has energetically bounded onto the national stage bringing crowds to their feet with her original blend of stand-up, story telling, and improvised rock-n-roll comedy. Her hard-hitting hour is phenomenally funny as Kober commands the stage and dares you not to laugh. Jen was the 2017 Winner of NPR's Snap Judgement Comedic Performance of the Year for her Girl Scout Cookie Caper story, which went viral upon its release earlier that year. Kober received the 2018 Comedic Performance of the Year for her latest story titled Nana Vs. OJ. You can see Jen on Netflix as of 2019 as she joined the cast of two of its newest original shows, including RuPaul's sitcom AJ & The Queen. Jen also has upcoming roles on The Righteous Gemstones on HBO, The Purge on USA Network, and Diary Of A Future President on Disney+. Jason Schommer is a standup comedian and storyteller who spent two years as the opening act for comedy legend Louie Anderson in Las Vegas and continues to tour with Louie regularly. Louie says, "Jason is funny, clever, smart, and on his way to the big time!” Jason has performed his stand-up routine all over the USA as well as Canada and for the U.S. Military in Japan. He has worked with such comedy superstars as Chris Kattan (Saturday Night Live, Night at the Roxbury), Josh Blue (Last Comic Standing champion), Judy Tenuta (Grammy Award Best Comedy Album), and Tim Meadows (Saturday Night Live, The Ladies’ Man). A regular performer at The Moth, Jason has won numerous Story Slam competitions and was invited to perform at the GrandSlam at The Fitzgerald Theatre in St. Paul in 2016 and most recently in 2018 at The Guthrie Theater and was also recently featured on The Moth Radio Hour and The Moth Podcast airing nationally. Jason has worked in New York City for The Rosie O’Donnell Show and for Richard Frankel Productions, a Tony Award-winning Broadway producer. Jason recently released his first live comedy album , “Confessions of a Local Celebrity,” and worked behind the scenes in Hollywood on the FX television series , Baskets.
