JOLIET, IL — A 14-year-old girl who attends Joliet West High School went out of control during her Thursday morning gym class, attacking a 14-year-old boy by punching him in the face several times, according to Joliet police.
The girl was removed from Joliet West's campus and delivered to the River Valley Juvenile Justice Center on McDonough Street where she is charged with the crime of aggravated battery.
According to Joliet police reports, the Joliet West police liaison officer was notified of a fight that was broken up by a teacher, and one student was sent to the dean's office around 8:50 a.m. on Thursday.
"Further investigation determined while students were playing soccer during gym class, the juvenile female, 14, pushed a juvenile male, 14, from behind and repeatedly struck him in the face before a teacher was able to break up the altercation," Joliet police reports show. "The female juvenile was placed into custody without incident."
Later that same day, Joliet police arrested a 15-year-old boy who attacked another boy inside one of the bathrooms toward the end of the day.
