LAKE COUNTY, IL —The results are in from the Lake County Sheriff's Office's Halloween enforcement effort.
The enforcement campaign ran from Oct. 16 through Nov. 1. Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this effort to save lives by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more motorists buckled up, according to a news release for the sheriff's office.
During the campaign, deputies arrested three people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in Lake County. They also issued 21 seatbelt and child safety seat citations, 31 speeding citations and 20 other citations.
Deputies focused their enforcement time to late-night hours when there are the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities, according to police.
The recent law enforcement campaign was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
