Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1 Formation Course #1-1840 This course is designed to attune participants to the religious life of children at 3-6 years old and to provide specific methods and materials to foster their spiritual life. A formation course for Level I includes at least 90 hours of presentations and reflections. Completion of the entire course plus time observing in an atrium are required for Level I certification by the National Association of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. Formation Leader: Celine Mitchell, M.A, Recently retired as Director of CGS at her parish, Celine continues to be involved as catechist at St. Ambrose Academy where she also is a primary Montessori teacher. Celine is a recognized formation leader in Levels I and II. She assisted numerous parishes in starting CGS in western Pennsylvania and internationally and in her “retirement” continues to do consulting for those wanting to begin Catholic Montessori. She has led formation courses in Poland and for the Missionaries of Charity in Latvia, Brazil, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and San Francisco. Celine and her husband Bob (also a CGS catechist) have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren and live at Good Shepherd House of Prayer. Course Fee: The Course Fee is $450 for each part and must be paid before each part begins. The fee covers: • All course sessions • Three required textbooks • Handouts • Certificate from National CGSUSA Participants from the Diocese of Greensburg may apply for Francis Funds by Jan 1 and July 1. Francis Fund Application. Those in the Diocese of Pittsburgh may apply for a scholarship here. Participants from other Dioceses should check their own diocese for grant money or apply for a partial scholarship through the national association (if already a National CGS member).
