ELMHURST, IL – A woman's wallet was stolen over the weekend when she left it unattended in an Elmhurst supermarket, while a local furniture store was targeted twice in recent days, police said. Here is information from the reports:
A woman briefly left her purse unattended in her shopping cart about 4 p.m. Sunday at Whole Foods Market, 215 S. Route 83. Upon returning, she found her wallet missing from her purse. It contained two credit cards, her Illinois driver's license and money. Video surveillance showed a man approach, lean over the woman's cart and then leave the store. The man was described as black, 40 years old, 200 pounds, carrying a dark jacket, and wearing a black baseball hat with an unknown logo, an orange and white Baltimore Orioles short-sleeved shirt and dark pants.A woman left At Home store, 265 S. Route 83, about 3 p.m. Thursday with three dining room chairs. While she was leaving, a man paid for three more of the same chairs using a gift card. The man and woman left in a white Nissan Quest. Police did not provide a description of the woman. They described the man as white, 55 to 70 years old, and having blue eyes and gray hair. An investigation is pending.A man and woman made purchases about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at At Home store, 265 S. Route 83. They brought the items to their car. Then they returned to the store and stole a cart containing three barstools, which were to be picked up by another customer. The man was described as Hispanic, 30 years old, 6 feet, 180 pounds, having short hair, and wearing a black coat, blue jeans and a mask. The woman was described as Hispanic, 5-foot-3, 180 pounds, having dark hair, and wearing a black coat and mask.
