Here are the top stories today in Concord: Local police have been tracking a crew of suspected thieves believed responsible for as many as 25 robberies throughout the area. Police determined that robberies in Antioch, Pittsburg, Concord, Brentwood, Bay Point, and Clayton were related, and viable leads were established to identify the responsible parties. On November 3rd, 2021, an armed robbery occurred in the city of Concord. The suspect vehicle was located and stopped in Bay Point, according to police. All three occupants were residents of Pittsburg and were suspected of being responsible for the series of robberies in Contra Costa County. Evidence of the robbery and perhaps others was located inside the vehicle, and all three suspects were taken into custody. (News 24/680)Firefighters are investigating the origin of a fire in the Stanley Smith Insurance offices, 3540 Wilkinson Lane in Lafayette Monday morning. The blaze was discovered at 5:57 a.m. Contra Costa County Fire Protection District crews gained the upper hand on the blaze a little before 6:30 a.m. (News 24/680)The East County Diehards 12U travel baseball team is fundraising for a trip to Cooperstown, NY, to compete in the July 2022 Allstar tournament. The East County Diehards are a 501(c)3 charitable organization, and donations are tax deductible. In addition, there will be several events, including a Crab Feed on February 5, 2022 and a Golf tournament on April 23, 2022, with the proceeds going to the Diehards Cooperstown fund. (East County Today)The Fairfield Police Department is warning residents of a new card skimming scam through the use of a pinhole camera on an ATM. Police say after an investigation, it was determined a mirror on the ATM was a skimming device disguised as the ATM's rearview safety mirror. The mirror masked a pinhole camera designed to record bank transactions, card numbers, and customer PIN codes. (East County Today) The Golden Skate, one of the Bay Area's last surviving roller skating rinks, is closing, according to a message on their website.
