Description
TUCSON, AZ — One Tucson fire station and several emergency units were closed Sunday because there weren't enough workers to staff them, according to Tucson Fire Fighters Association, the union representing Tucson Fire Department fire fighters.
Station 6, at 10251 S. Wilmot Road, along with Medic unit 19 and the Tucson Fire Department Hazardous Materials Unit were all shut down Sunday, the union said.
"The staffing shortages TFD is facing will result in longer response times for the Tucson Community and will greatly increase the danger to both our public and our firefighters," the union said in a Facebook post. "Our men and women continue to step up and do an amazing job serving this community despite many of them working 36 or 48 hours straight. Please be patient with our firefighters and understand we are doing the best we can to rise to this challenge."
