Atlanta 911 Center Back Online After Water Leak, Power Outage

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police Department's Emergency 911 Center was temporarily disabled Sunday afternoon by a water leak and subsequent power outage at the facility, authorities said. Monday afternoon, Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Timothy Peek said the 911 center was back online as workers address the source of Sunday's outage and leak. "Our E-911 center is operational," Peek said. "We never stopped receiving our 911 calls." He also said that ATL311, the city's non-emergency customer service line is up and running. The water leak shut down electrical circuitry to the building's main power source, and also hampered the backup power source. Through a partnership with Fulton County's 911 services, Atlanta Police were able to keep responding to emergency calls. "We were able to … move resources to a different facility," Peek said. "All the time, we were able to keep 911 operations going throughout the entire event." Today backup generators are working and crews are assessing the functionality of the main power source, he said.
