Here are the top stories in Atlanta today: Atlanta police are investigating the death of a man shot along the intersection of Peeples and White Oak Streets at around 1:15 a.m. Monday. Officers responding to the southwest Atlanta location found a body with at least one gunshot wound. According to APD Homicide Commander Ralph Woolfolk, the investigation is still in its early stages. Anyone with information concerning the incident is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 404-577-8477. (CBS46 News Atlanta)A power outage at Atlanta's Public Safety Center Sunday night created delays with people calling 911 and 311 that stretched into Monday. Atlanta Police said a water leak at the call center caused the outage. "We have shifted operations to our backup center and remain able to receive and dispatch 911 calls," a statement read. "We have contingencies in place to ensure we maintain emergency services, even while experiencing issues like this." Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms tweeted that anyone experiencing delays after calling 911 and 311 should not hang up. (11Alive.com WXIA)Daniel Deocampo, a former professor and dean at Georgia State University, has pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, federal prosecutors said. In a news release, prosecutors said the 48-year-old had videos and images of children as young as 5 years old engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Deocampo had visited multiple websites containing child pornography from campus in November and December 2020, as determined by the FBI and Georgia State cyber security staff. Deocampo pleaded guilty and is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 23., 2022. (WSB Atlanta) Monday's certification of election results for Atlanta's next mayor show City Council President Felecia Moore with 41 percent of votes compared to 23 percent for Atlanta councilman Andre Dickens. The two are preparing for a runoff that will take place Nov. 30, with the winner to be sworn in as Atlanta's new mayor on Jan. 3. Rachale LaVoie, an experienced community outreach professional and member of a military family, has been hired to fill the position. LaVoie's other responsibilities will include assisting schools and districts that serve military students, and making sure the statewide education system addresses the needs of military students and families in cases of frequent moves and deployments.
