Starts January 18th (Tuesdays from 1PM-4PM for 6 weeks) Starts January 18th (Tuesdays from 1PM-4PM for 6 weeks) Previous experience needed in wedging, centering, throwing 1-3 lbs clay, and trimming. We will cover: Tap centeringThrowing bottles and trimming on a chuckThrowing off the humpMaking spherical ballsReview lidsHow to make items the same sizeThrowing platesNon-members: $250 for 6 weeks. Members: $200.  Fee does not include materials. Clay will be three dollars a pound which covers glazing and firing costs. NOTE: COVID-19 protocols are in place for the safety of our teachers and students, including wearing masks while inside the building. About the instructor: Lee Cummings has had twenty years as a production potter, taught at Germantown Academy and Unity College, and had a one person show at the University Museum in Bangor, as well as sold her work through Littlefield Gallery and Greenhut Gallery. Artascope at bec is a 501(c)(3) organization that raises money for experiential education programs by offering art classes and studio memberships in Yarmouth, Maine. We provide a relaxed, supportive environment to the broader community where individuals can share their work, ideas, and discoveries with one another.
