Faulty Unit Pump?

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new pump for my unit to use in the bedroom. I can't seem to get the pump to operate. It's not manual. It's got 3 levels and is battery operated and can be recharged with a USB charge cord. I've used different pumps in the past successfully and satisfied with the performance of each one. The only problem I sometimes have is my unit is surrounded by a bush which has to be cleared in order to get the pump to fit tightly. Before I contact the store's customer service I figured I'd see if I could find a guy or two with experience with unit pumps to come over and inspect this pump, observe to see if I'm using it properly, and bring a pump and demonstrate how they attach theirs. Hope to get my issue resolved soon before it gets too cold.
