Next up in our Magnificent Andersons series is Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, based on the classic children’s novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. The film centers on the titular Mr. Fox, a former thief who now spends his days taking care of his family after promising to his wife to end his thieving ways. 12 fox years later (or two human years) however, he gives in to his natural instincts and raids the farms of their human neighbors, Boggis, Bunce and Bean. This puts Mr. Fox, his family, and their animal friends in the vengeful farmers’ crosshairs, forcing them to go underground and Mr. Fox to tap into his natural craftiness to save the day. Receiving universal critical acclaim upon its release, Fantastic Mr. Fox has been praised for its humor and stop-motion animation, and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature. “Children, especially, will find things they don’t understand, and things that scare them. Excellent. A good story for children should suggest a hidden dimension, and that dimension of course is the lifetime still ahead of them.” — Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times “Anderson injects such charm and wit, such personality and nostalgia — evident in the old-school animation, storybook settings and pitch-perfect use of Burl Ives — that it’s easy to forgive his self-conscious touches.” — Amy Biancolli, Houston Chronicle “In an age when everything seems digital, computer-driven and as fake as instant coffee, more and more artists (Spike Jonze and John Lasseter among them) are embracing the old ways of vinyl records, hand-drawn cartoons and painstaking stop-motion character movements.” — Peter Howell, The Toronto Star The Frida Cinema is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching, connecting, and educating communities through the art of cinema.  Founded in 2014, it is Orange County's sole non-profit, independent cinema.OC's year-round film festival.
