Learn how to etch 18-gauge copper using saltwater and electricity: electrolytic etching 1-Day Workshop Date: Saturday, January 16, 2021 Time: 10am-5pm Description: In this one-day workshop students will learn how to etch 18-gauge copper using saltwater and electricity: electrolytic etching. The day will start off with assembling saltwater etching kits that students will use to etch their material and that they will get to take home to use for future projects. We will cover different resists to saltwater etching that can be used such as P&P transfer paper, paint markers/pens, packaging tape, etc. and how to apply them to metal. While the metal is etching different forming techniques will be briefly covered such as diforming. Finishing samples will be provided and techniques will be discussed and demonstrated on an interest basis. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks. About the Instructor: Courtney graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, receiving her Bachelors in Fine Arts – Concentration Jewelry & Metalsmithing with minors in Business Administration and Ceramics. Currently she works from her home studio in Johnstown, PA creating jewelry and small sculptures. Her work has been exhibited nationally in locations including Lillstreet Gallery (Chicago,IL), Pocosin Arts Center, The Erie Art Museum, and Emerge Gallery.
