A two day hands on approach workshop (So bring your mannequins!), specializing in understanding the foundation of customized color. Welcome to my two day hands on workshop! This class will be packed full of knowledge and change the way you look at and do hair. We will be diving into the theory and foundation of placement and techniques. Choosing the right technique and understanding where to place it is a powerful skill to have as a colorist. I want you to leave my class with confidence in the ability to create and design dimensional color on any canvass. Gaining the right knowledge in what techniques to use, when to use them and where to place them is paramount to being able to look at a clients inspiration photo and how to best achieve creating a similar result. I always say photos are good for inspiration, not duplication. No technique is “One size fits all”. You can learn a new technique, but we need the foundations of knowing when and why to use it and how to identify which canvass to place it on. I want to teach you to think outside the box, look at the canvass in your chair, have the knowledge to choose the right technique that will work best for your goals and even how to customize it to that client. I call this balanced color. Our class mornings will be filled with the fundamentals of placement and technique theory while I demonstrate on a live model. I will work on a different model each morning, choose which technique to use based on the canvass in front of me and explain in depth to you WHY I chose that particular technique and then how to execute it. Our afternoons we move to hands on, and you will be you performing what we learned that morning with your mannequin heads. This will ensure you understand placement and technique theory by immediately using what you learned to help give you the ability to design and create freely! We will also up our skills on stylist/client communication, formulation and photography. If you have ever taken one of my classes before you know that I am an open book and nothing is off the table for us to discuss, so bring any and all questions! Lunch and light refreshments will be provided both days. PLEASE come equipped with your mannequin head, tri-pod stand, clips, tail comb, foils, gloves and color brushes. Class size will be limited to 12 stylists to maximize the educational experience and individual one on one instruction during the hands on portion. demo
