Sew your own cozy fleece scarf while learning traditional smocking techniques. 3-Hour Workshop Saturday, January 16, 2021 – 10am-1pm Description: In this workshop you will sew your own cozy fleece scarf while learning traditional smocking techniques and a few geometric tips and tricks. The scarf will form a ring with two colors either stacked top and bottom or twining their way around. We’ll go from a pattern marked on the fabric all the way through the finishing stitches! Tuition: $50 + $10 materials fee Materials: All materials will be provided. Students will select which 2 colors of fleece they would like when they register. Choices are black + gold, red + white, red + black, or black + white. Cancellations and Refunds: Workshop cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If workshops must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded through Eventbrite, or you may leave your workshop fee in your Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks. About the Instructor: Madonna started making her own tessellation patterns in 2018 after taking a Geometric Folding Algorithms class during her final semester at MIT and presenting her class project at the 7th international conference on origami in science, mathematics, and education (7OSME). After making some smocked pieces for the Museum of Mathematics in NYC for their Math Unfolded exhibit, Madonna decided to go into business bringing these origami and smocking patterns to a wider audience.
