Description
TAMPA, FL — A man was treated for a facial laceration after a Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy fired shots at a dog that was charging her.
The sheriff's office said two deputies were called to a home in the 6000 block of South 15th Street around 6 p.m. Friday for a domestic disturbance.
When no one answered the door, one of the deputies went to check a shed while the other remained at the door. A man eventually answered the door. In the meantime, a dog emerged and charged at the deputy checking the shed.
While backing away from the dog, the deputy fell and fired two shots toward the dog. When the dog continued charging her, she fired two more shots. One of the shots ricocheted, causing some debris to strike the man who answered the door, cutting his face.
He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Neither the dog nor the deputies were injured.
