GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Nov. 2 Oct. 27 As a result of a domestic incident investigation, a 35-year-old man was arrested for stalking and harassing his ex-girlfriend.Officers arrested a 41-year-old man for contacting another family member in violation of an order of protection. He was charged with criminal contempt.A driver on Washington Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.Two drivers were charged with operating trucks in a no-commercial-vehicle zone on Stewart Avenue.Police and firefighters responded to Meadow Street for a transformer fire.An unknown vehicle left the scene after striking and damaging a vehicle parked on Hamilton Place. Oct. 28 Officers responded to a report of a man leaving the scene on a motorized bike after stealing multiple items from CVS. An officer stopped the man on Beech Street where he resisted arrest, causing the officer to suffer a back injury. The officer was able to place the 35-year-old man under arrest for larceny and resisting arrest.A driver on Franklin Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and headlamps not activated. Officers arrested a 62-year-old man for violating an order of protection by pushing another family member to the ground. He was charged with criminal contempt and harassment.A motorist on Stewart Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation, passing a red traffic light, and excessive speed.A 30-year-old woman was charged with leaving the scene of an Oct. 19 vehicle crash on Merillon Avenue. Oct. 29 Officers responded to St. James Street South for a traffic light malfunction.Officers responded to two reports of fallen tree limbs, one on Wyatt Road and the other on Cambridge Avenue.A driver on Clinton Road and Avalon Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed. A driver on Clinton Road at St James Street South was charged with driving with a suspended registration and operating an electronic device. Oct. 30 A resident stated he received an email which appeared to be from his attorney directing him to send money to an escrow account to be held until he purchased a new home. The resident complied and wired the money. The attorney later stated he did not send the email, nor did he receive the escrow money.An officer found a streetlight lying on the ground in the Garden City rail road station.Officers responded to 11th Street for a traffic light malfunction. Oct. 31 Officers arrested a 32-year-old man on Meadow Street for driving with numerous license suspensions and impeding traffic.Officers arrested a 35-year-old woman for leaving the scene after crashing her vehicle into a Edgemere Road guiderail.Police investigated a report of numerous fraudulent charges made against a resident's credit card account.Officers investigated a report of the theft of several items from four vehicles parked at a Ring Road restaurant. A passenger door window to each vehicle was found damaged.Syringes found on the ground in Parking Field 7N were safely removed by an Officer. Officers investigated a report of a green sedan colliding into the rear of another vehicle on Clinton Road, which left the scene without exchanging information. The driver of the vehicle that remained at the scene suffered a back injury. Nov. 1 Upon investigation of a two-vehicle accident on Washington Avenue, officers arrested one of the drivers, a 35-year-old man, for DWI. A motorcyclist on Stewart Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license, not wearing a helmet, and unregistered operation.Someone attempted to purchase an iPad online by using another person's identity.A fallen tree limb struck and damaged a vehicle on Mulberry Road.Police and fire fighters responded to a residence for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be burnt food.
