Lets build a blues/soul band

Bass player looking to start a bluesy, funky, soul band. I have usually played in heavier bands so this a new venture for me. Originals mixed with covers would be ideal long term but old school soul covers will be the primary focus to start. Otis Redding, Booker T and the MGs, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, etc. Please no rock or metal bands. Blues/soul/funk only. Not looking to play out every week, this will be more of a showcase type project. I have a partial setlist going. My house is available to rehearse and I have a drumset here to make it a little easier. Looking at Sunday afternoons to get together.
