Behind The Scoreboard – Coach Helps Hockey Player Excel
My philosophy is "Everything I ever needed to know about business I learned on the sports field." From Behind The Scoreboard, I feature the sports stories that tell us much more than simply who won or lost. These personal and inspiring experiences of grade school, high school, college, other amateur and even pro athletes allow all of us to reflect a little more on what is important in life. ~ James C. Reunited On The Ice Launches Confidence
His confidence on the ice could not sink lower. Professional scouts were concerned about his skating abilities This caused Brennan Othmann to doubt himself. He accumulated bad habits.
Brennan’s mom rushed to the rescue. A few years ago, she teamed him with Lisa Clark, who was his skating coach when he was a youngster. The reunion convinced Brennan to invest in power-skating.
Brennan became the 16th overall draft pick by the New York Rangers in the 2021 National Hockey League draft. He recently completed his first NHL training camp. Brennan now is playing in the Ontario Hockey League. He has the confidence and he now is honing his skills. Time is one his side. He’s just 18 years old.
A solid player-coach relationship can go a long way. Read more about Lisa and Brennan in my blog.
