The Christmas Toy Giveaway is a celebration for children and their families in communities that Atlanta Dream Center engages throughout the year. This event brings the community together for a time of fellowship and fun through games, crafts, a Gospel presentation, and the gift of toys! FAQs GENERAL Does signing up mean I will get toys for my family? No. This sign-up is strictly for volunteering at the event. Toys will be distributed only to residents of the communities where the Toy Giveaway will be held. Do I need to bring a mask for this event? The health of you and your family are always our top priority. For this reason, we ask that you wear a mask for the duration of the event. If you don't have a mask, a disposable mask will be provided for you at registration. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we seek to create a safe and enjoyable event for everyone. What precautions are you taking in light of COVID-19? We are so glad you asked! All volunteers and attendees of the event will be required to wear masks throughout the duration of the event. We also encourage volunteers to practice social distancing by maintaining a distance of six feet or more whenever possible, except in the case of family or a significant other. In addition, we have shifted the way we do our Toy Giveaway gathering this year to help control the size of the group participating at any given time throughout the event. All sites will be taking place outdoors as an additional precautionary measure. How can I drop off donated toys? Please call ahead to (404) 817-3502 or email [email protected] to schedule a drop off during office hours. Not able to drop off toys in person? No problem! For ways to donate while maintaining social distancing, please visit atldreamcenter.com/christmas and follow the link to our Amazon Wish List! I’d like to donate toys. What guidelines should I follow when picking out toys? For any toy donations, please observe the following guidelines below: Please do NOT donate: Anything involving wizardry or witches Open or used toys Food items Stuffed animals, cloth toys, etc Anything that promotes violence Electronics or anything that requires batteries Examples of approved toys include: Age appropriate board games Ethnically diverse dolls/barbies Sports equipment (i.e. basketballs or footballs) Jewelry making kits Craft kits Legos Action figures Science kits Puzzles Hotwheels What does a volunteer do? Volunteers will meet at the outreach site, sign in, and have the opportunity to help with different activities. Upon arrival, volunteers will welcome kids and their families as well as guide them through the activities of the day - distributing toys, facilitating games, and much more! Are there ID or minimum age requirements for the event? We don't require ID and any participants under the age of 18-y.o. must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Can I update my registration information? If you need to make an update to your registration, please email [email protected]. Can someone else show up in my place? No. We will not be able to accommodate volunteers who did not pre-register themselves. DAY OF EVENT What happens if we have inclement weather? The Toy Giveaway will take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for being outside (rain, cold, etc.). If there are any conditions that could adversely affect the event we will let you know by email, so please check your email the day before and the morning of the event. What should I bring? A big smile Face mask Comfortable shoes Warm, layered clothing Water bottle Snack to keep you energized Backpack or something light to carry personal belongings Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? No. We will have a registration list on site. Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? All replacements or changes must be communicated in advance to [email protected] no later than noon on Wednesday, December 16th. Please note, due to COVID-19 restrictions we will not be able to accommodate anyone who did not register in advance or accommodate last minute changes or additions to registration. What is the schedule for Saturday, December 19th? Your schedule will be sent to you once you RSVP for the event. Shift times are 11:30am to 3:30 pm. Please note: Conclusion time is approximate and will be affected by the number of toys distributed at any particular location. Will lunch be provided?
