I began my studies at the McKinnon Institute in Oakland, CA. In 1994 I attended Crystal Mountain School of Natural Therapeutics in Albuquerque, NM. In 1997 I returned to Wisconsin where I now live, teach and have my practice. I have completed advanced training in the Hakomi method of Body-centered experiential therapy. I am forever grateful to have met Cedar Barstow, M. Ed. and a certified Hakomi Therapist. I have completed her advanced teacher’s training in Ethics as Right Use of Power and currently belong to the Right Use of Power teacher’s guild, a group of passionate educators committed to the often fragile and dynamic area of ethics education. I was blessed to serve on the advisory board for the Right Use of Power Institute.  My bodywork practice is balanced with teaching at the curriculum level and offering continuing education both locally and nationally. I am on faculty at East-West Healing Arts Institute located in Madison and Milwaukee, teaching courses in Ethics, Professional Development, Soft Skills and Psychology of Touch. I am co-creator of Life Empowered Institute. I regularly contribute to MASSAGE Magazine. I served with the NCBTMB Ethics committee for 8 years and currently serve with AFMTE. I have been an approved provider with NCBTMB since 2003. My deep passion for ethics education began the first day I entered massage therapy school, knowing that the presence of the therapist and who we bring into the caring situation has the greatest impact on the therapeutic relationship. I love challenging people’s preconceived ideas regarding ethics education. I have attempted over the years to offer a unique and meaningful approach to ethics education and inspire others to explore the elements of healing that reach far beyond technique. Ethics education offers more than simply guiding others into what to do and how to do it. Rather it is an invitation to travel within, to discover and heal the self that shows up in the session room. Our work then becomes a spiritual practice that reflects our inner work. My classes draw from my personal journey of inner exploration, personal growth and over 25 years of professional experience in the field of massage therapy and bodywork. My commitment and passion are to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Ethics education can truly be inspiring, dynamic, nourishing and engaging … and so much more than a professional requirement! May we continue to learn, grow and live in peace!
