And that’s exactly what the talented bunch of twang players in Seattle’s new country band, Santa Poco, offer their audiences: Fun. With songs about rough and tumble characters mixed with emptying whiskey glasses, the five-piece offers the type of slide guitar-emboldened tunes that float throughout a dusty roadhouse or romping dance hall. Thorough storytelling mixes with mean electric leads that inspire folks to don their ten-gallons, pull the boots up over their denim blue jeans, and hit the town for beer swills and swing dances 'til dawn. Comprised of prolific songwriter and pedal steel player Pat McHenry, nimble-fingered guitarist Kevin Redlich, steady-handed drummer Bruce Weitz, thumping bassist Jordan Binkiewicz and smooth-voiced front man Andy Shofner, the band is poised for a shining breakout after releasing their first two fan-favorite singles, “The Way It Goes” and “Captain Jack’s.” In the new year, the group will rouse, rollick, and ring out with its signature hard-earned, generous joy.
