Magical Rescue Bunny Needs New Home

Description

I found a young rabbit running around in traffic in downtown Spokane. One of the cutest rabbits ever. I knew I couldn’t keep her long term, but I was fond enough of her to know I wanted to take my time to find her a good home. But then I kept her for a while. There was no immediate reason to let go of her, and I was too busy to focus on finding her a new place. But the time has come now for some life things I will be doing that will not allow for me keep a small pet. I MUST find this girl a home, and it *must* be a good rabbit home. The complicating factor… I believe she was feral. Early on, a clinic had me believing she was a lost pet, but I couldn’t find her owner. After living with her for a while and thinking about her behavior, I and others have decided she was probably born wild. Black and white feral bunnies are common here, as I’ve come to learn and observe. Although… I don’t see rabbits anywhere near downtown, but I know they will wander and get lost. She may have come from near the river or Hangman Valley. One way other the other, she wasn’t going to stay alive long where I found her. So she’s skittish, hard to catch, and it’s kind of up in the air how trainable she might be. She is not housebroken, but uses a litter box to go pee. She won’t like being in a cage. Even her pen is too small for a rabbit who used to be free… So I let her out a lot. She likes to run around and be silly in the mornings, and then have snuggles. But… The feral thing is troubling to me. Obviously it doesn’t seem like setting her free again would be a good idea, but I don’t think she wants to be indoors. It’s known that rabbits love living outdoors in yards in all seasons. They don’t hibernate. That’s how my childhood rabbits lived. They were free to roam the yards for years. They dug themselves dens, and were quite happy, even in the snow. So now for her name… Get ready. Her name is Dugless, or Dug for short. But *she* thinks her name is “I Love You, Baby”… Ha, ok well actually she thinks her name is “Baby”. (Most animals won’t respond to a name like Dug, but names that end with and “E” sound are easiest for them to comprehend.) But anyhow, her name is a pun. Being a burrowing animal rescued from outdoors, I have to assume she’s dug at some point. And now being rescued and indoors, she’s dug less; less than she used to. She has two adorable black eye patches, but one happens to be in the shape of a cartoonish turtle face, of all things. And when you move her ears, it resembles a sea turtle swimming. When you put all this together, she becomes a punny turtle bunny. I’ve reserved the IG profile @punnyturtlebunny just for her next hooman to post pic and stories if desired. Please help me find her a home in the next three weeks. Any outdoor living situation, I hope could be accomplished gradually, given the time of year.
