Description
Some good old fashioned St. Patrick's Day fun in Chicago! Come run/walk with us to support a great cause and grab a cold one! Wow, 20 years? My goodness, that's a lot of St. Patrick's Day celebrating that we've done. Well, how about we do it again? Sure! Throw on whatever green you can find and join us down at Diversey Harbor for this crazy Lincoln Park lakefront run. All participants will receive a race shirt, finisher's medal, and an ever-so-satisfying post-race beer at our post-race party! Will the beer be green? Who knows!? That's a mystery for you to solve. Course The event starts in Chicago's historic Lincoln Park neighborhood across the street from the Peggy Notebart Nature Museum, just at the south end of Diversey Harbor. The course is perfectly picturesque, winding through the unforgettable Diversey Harbor and Belmont Harbor areas along Chicago’s dynamic lakefront. The 8K run kicks off at 10am, running just north of Irving Park Road along the Waveland Golf Course. Then we'll turn around and continue back south to the finish line just north of Fullerton Avenue on the path adjacent to Cannon Drive. The 5K run begins 10 minutes after those crazy 8Kers take off, running north to the Barry Street underpass at Lake Shore Drive. It then heads south along the lakefront path, turning around near the theater on the lake building and heading back north to the underpass. Proceed south to the finish line, just north of Fullerton Avenue on the path adjacent to Cannon Drive, and you've got it! There is a water station on each course, and each water station is passed both before and after the "turnaround". Packet Pick Up Packet pick up at Fleet Feet Old Town on Thursday, March 11th and Friday, March 12th, from 12pm to 7pm both days. Come by and meet the race director! As is tradition, he'll answer whatever fun questions you've got - including favorite Irish jigs, favorite Irish drinks, and why in the world he chooses to do this crazy job. Post-Race Party All are welcome to join us at Compass Bar (conveniently located at 433 W Diversey Parkway - just northwest of the event site) for our post-race party! The party will feature our awards presentation, a free post-race beer for all participants, and those tasty Compass woodfire pizzas we all love so much! Other Info Parking - If you're feeling lucky, you can snag one of the 100 free parking spaces near the start line along Cannon Drive. If not, don't worry! There is plenty of paid parking in the nearby Diversey Harbor parking lots, and just across the street at the Lincoln Park Zoo.Gear Check - Got some stuff that you don't want to run with? Take it to gear check and grab it later! It's free!Late Registration - Of course you can register before the race starts! Got some friends you brought along? Sign 'em up! Try to get there a little early because it gets hectic sometimes.Volunteering - So you're not into running, but you want to be part of the fun? Or are you coming to cheer on your friends and family?
